The Textbooks,

1. “Introduction to Vectors and Tensors, Vol. 1, Linear and

Multilinear Algebra” by Ray M. Bowen and C.-C. Wang.

2. “Introduction to Vectors and Tensors, Vol. 2, Vector and

Tensor Analysis” by Ray M. Bowen and C.-C. Wang.

and

3.  “Introduction to Continuum Mechanics for Engineers”

         by Ray M. Bowen.

are available for downloading as Adobe Acrobat files.

These books are typed revisions of books which were originally

published by Plenum Press.  The first two were published in 1976 as

Volumes 1 and 2 in their series on Mathematical Concepts and

Methods in Science and Engineering, edited by Angelo Miele.  The

third book was published in 1989 as Volume 39 in the same series.

Introduction to Vectors and Tensors, Vol. 1 and 2, and Introduction

to Continuum Mechanics are also available from Dover Publications.

The online textbook,

“LECTURES ON APPLIED MATHEMATICS, Part 1: Linear Algebra”

is also available for download from this site.  In addition, the draft textbook,

“Porous Elasticity: Lectures on the Elasticity of Porous Materials

as an Application of the Theory of Mixtures”

is available for download from this site.

Feedback on these books would be appreciated.  In particular, If

typing mistakes and other problems are identified, the posted

files will be corrected.  Feedback should be sent to Ray M. Bowen at
